data deletion
Under POPIA (and platform requirements such as the Google Play Store), you have the right to request deletion of your account and the personal information we hold about you. This page explains exactly how.
What "delete my account" does
- Your login is permanently disabled — you can no longer sign in.
- Your profile, messages, push tokens and class enrollments are removed.
- Photos and videos that include you (and were stored privately) are removed.
- Public posts that have already been shared on Instagram / Facebook are not automatically removed by us — you must remove them on those platforms yourself, but we will assist on request.
What we are required to keep (and for how long)
South African law requires us to retain certain records even after account deletion. Your name and the relevant transaction details will remain in:
- Invoices and payment records — kept for 5 years from the transaction date (SARS/VAT obligations).
- ID-verification records (only if you submitted ID for the 18+ independence flow) — kept for 3 years.
- Anonymous analytics — already aggregated and not linked to you personally, so cannot be removed.
These records are only accessible to the studio's information officer and Effekt Studios for legal/accounting purposes.
How to request deletion
Option 1 — Email
Send an email to melissa@simplymodels.co.za with the subject "Account deletion request" and include the email or phone number on the account.

Once the Simply Models mobile app is live, you'll find a one-tap "Delete my account" action under Profile → Trust → Privacy. It will trigger the same flow as above and email you a confirmation.
What happens next
- We will reply within 3 working days to confirm we received your request.
- To prevent abuse, we will verify the request (e.g. by checking the email matches the account on file, or via a quick phone call for sensitive accounts).
- Within 14 days, we will delete your account, your profile, your private media, your messages and your push tokens.
- We will email you a confirmation when deletion is complete.
Deleting a child's account
If your child has their own login (13+), you as the parent can request deletion of their account on their behalf. Use the same channels above, and mention that the request is for your child plus the child's name.
